Following the first round of community consultation we have prepared a draft strategy incorporating community ideas and suggestions and are seeking feedback.

The proposed strategy focuses on three key areas:

    1. Renovating Existing Public Open Spaces: We need to evaluate our existing public open spaces and identify areas that require renovation and improvement. This could include upgrades to playgrounds, seating areas, lighting, and landscaping. We are also considering adding more amenities such as water fountains, public restrooms, and bike racks to make these spaces more welcoming and convenient for visitors.

    2. Creating New Public Open Spaces: We need to identify areas within the Shire that are currently underserved by public open spaces and create new ones. This could involve converting unused land or repurposing underutilized areas such as parking lots or unused buildings. These new spaces would be designed with the community's needs and preferences in mind, such as adding walking paths, community gardens, or outdoor performance spaces.

    3. Promoting Public Open Spaces: Finally, we need to create a campaign to promote our public open spaces and encourage community members to use them. This could involve social media campaigns, community events, and educational initiatives to showcase the benefits of spending time outdoors and promote the diverse range of activities available in our public open spaces.
